Shane McDowell has been featured in Gulfshore Life Health’s 2014-2015 topDentists registry! The topDentists registry is an exclusive listing of the most recommended dentists in Collier and Lee Counties, and is excerpted from a database including more than 90 dentists and specialists in the Naples/Fort Myers area. Dentists are evaluated by the hundreds of evaluations from dentists, professionals, and peers.

Part of the selection process includes interviewers asking the question, “If you had a patient in need of a dentists, which would you refer them to?” The team from topDentists asks thousands of dentists this question to help determine who the top dentists in the area are. When considering their answer, dentists are asked to evaluate based on experience, continuing education, manner with patients, use of new techniques and technologies, and physical results. In addition to this, respondents are asked to put aside any personal bias or political motivations and use only their knowledge.

To be considered for inclusion in the list, the dentist must be listed online with the American Dental Association, as well as listed online with local dentist societies—thus allowing hundreds of dentists to be considered for selection.

Local dentists are also given to opportunity to look over the list and suggest dentists that have been excluded for consideration. Voters evaluate dentists whose work they are familiar with. Judges also consider past awards, status in various dental academies, such as Academy of General Dentistry and the American Academy of Periodontology.

Gulfshore Life Health Magazine is Southwest Florida’s guide to living well. Also included in the annual 2014-2015 guide is a list of most recommended doctors in the area, as well as new guidelines for heart health, information about cosmetic procedures, and other articles pertaining to health issues.
